Happy birthday, tidbit. I will love and miss you every day for the rest of my life.
Laura Dern began her iconic collaboration with David Lynch in 1986’s “Blue Velvet,” where she played the innocent Sandy Williams, but it was her transformative performance as Lula Fortune in “Wild at Heart” (1990), as Nikki Grace / Sue Blue in “Inland Empire” (2007) and as Diane Evans in “Twin Peaks: The Return” (2017) that cemented her status as one of Lynch’s most trusted performers. The daughter of actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd, Laura would act alongside her real-life mother in Lynch’s “Wild at Heart,” creating an unsettling dynamic as Ladd played a manipulative mother intent on destroying her daughter’s relationship.
